SPM Tuition Online: Add Maths, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Afterkelas teaches SPM online to Form 4 and Form 5 students on the KSSM syllabus that Lembaga Peperiksaan examines. University tutors who scored top grades in the subjects they teach run live classes, 1-to-1 or in small groups, in English or Bahasa Melayu.

Subjects we teach for SPM
Most SPM students come to us for the science stream: Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, usually with Mathematics alongside. A subject with a page of its own is linked below, and that page carries the Form 4 and Form 5 chapter list, a worked question and answers to what parents ask about that paper.
The subjects without a link are taught too, and a class in any of them is planned the same way: against the chapter the school has reached, in the language the student will answer the paper in.
- SPM Add MathsAll eighteen KSSM chapters across Form 4 and Form 5, taught so the Form 4 algebra holds up under Form 5 calculus.
- SPM MathsAll eighteen KSSM Mathematics chapters, from number bases to mathematical modelling, for the objective paper and the structured paper.
- SPM PhysicsThe thirteen KSSM Physics chapters, from Measurement to Quantum Physics, with the experiment questions of Paper 3 practised from the start.
- SPM ChemistryThe thirteen KSSM Chemistry chapters, with the mole calculations and chemical equations that most of the marks depend on.
- SPM BiologyAll twenty-eight KSSM Biology chapters, taught for the explanations, labelled diagrams and essay answers the paper marks.
- SPM Prinsip PerakaunanThe sixteen KSSM Prinsip Perakaunan chapters, from source documents to company accounts, practised in the Malay terms the paper uses.

How SPM revision runs from Form 4 to the exam
SPM examines the whole of KSSM Form 4 and Form 5, and that shapes everything else. A chapter taught at the start of Form 4 is as likely to appear on the paper as one taught a month before the exam, so a student who treats Form 4 as a warm-up starts Form 5 with a gap to close while new material keeps arriving.
In Form 4 the job is the foundation. Tutors follow the school's chapter order and make sure each chapter is understood well enough to be used later, not just finished. Additional Mathematics shows why this matters: the algebra from Functions, Quadratic Functions and Indices, Surds and Logarithms comes back inside almost every Form 5 differentiation and integration question.
The first half of Form 5 brings new content quickly, and classes run alongside the school, on the current chapter or slightly ahead of it. When a Form 5 topic exposes a Form 4 weakness, the tutor repairs it there and then instead of noting it for later.
From the state and school trial examinations onwards, the balance moves to papers. Students sit full papers under time, the tutor marks them against the scheme, and the classes that follow go to the question types that lost marks rather than to the chapters the student already enjoys. The last weeks before SPM add no new content at all. They are for past papers, the handful of chapters that still cost marks, and timing.
What the SPM papers ask for
Each subject has its own paper format, and knowing it changes how a student revises. Additional Mathematics has no objective paper: Paper 1 runs for 2 hours and carries 80 marks, Paper 2 runs for 2 hours 30 minutes and carries 100, and both end with a section where the student chooses which questions to answer. Every mark comes from written working.
Mathematics opens with Paper 1, 40 objective questions in 1 hour 30 minutes, and follows with Paper 2, structured questions across three sections. Physics, Chemistry and Biology each set an objective Paper 1, a Paper 2 of structured and extended-response questions, and a Paper 3 on experimental skills, where planning an experiment and reading a graph earn the marks.
In the written mathematics papers the marking scheme separates K marks, for method, from N marks, for the final value. A student who sets out the working can collect most of a question they get wrong at the last line, and a student who writes only an answer can lose marks on a question they got right. Tutors mark practice papers the same way, which is why students hear about their working more often than about their answers.
Who teaches SPM classes
SPM tutors are university students and graduates who sat SPM themselves and scored top grades in the subject they teach, and they are screened before they take a class. A tutor who wrote the same papers a few years ago knows which chapters feel easy in class and fall apart under time, and that is most of what a Form 5 student needs to hear.
An academic advisor matches each student on the subject, on whether the school teaches it in English under DLP or in Bahasa Melayu, on how far the school has got through the syllabus, and on the timetable. Sending the latest school test paper with an enquiry helps. The marks a student lost say more about where to start than the overall grade does.

A question, worked through
A Paper 2 question of the kind SPM Mathematics sets on the Form 5 chapter on Variation. The working carries marks of its own, so each stage is written out the way the marking scheme expects to find it.
Given that y varies directly as the square of x and inversely as z, and that y = 12 when x = 2 and z = 3, find the value of y when x = 4 and z = 6.
- Turn the words into an equation before touching the numbers: y = kx²/z, where k is a constant. This line is where the method mark sits.
- Substitute the values you are given: 12 = k(2)²/3, which is 4k/3, so k = 9.
- Rewrite the relation with the constant in place: y = 9x²/z. Stating it keeps an unknown k from drifting into the next step.
- Substitute the new values: y = 9(4)²/6 = 144/6 = 24.
Answer: y = 24.
Frequently asked questions
When should SPM tuition start?
The start of Form 4 is the best time, because SPM examines Form 4 chapters as heavily as Form 5 ones and the foundation is cheapest to build while it is being taught. Many students start later, often in Form 5 after a disappointing test, and that works too: the first classes go to finding which Form 4 chapters are weak, and the plan closes those while keeping up with school.
Do you cover the trial papers?
Yes. As the state and school trial examinations approach, tutors work through trial papers and past-year SPM papers with the student under time, mark them against the scheme and spend the following classes on the questions that lost marks. A student can also bring their own trial paper after sitting it, and that is often the most useful paper of all, since the mistakes are already on the page.
How much does SPM tuition cost?
It depends on the format (1-to-1 or a small group), how many subjects the student takes and how often classes run, so there is no single figure. Tell an academic advisor the form, the subjects and the latest results, and you will get the current packages and a quote for your case on WhatsApp, usually within one working day. Asking does not commit you to anything.
Can lessons be in Bahasa Melayu?
Yes. Students whose school teaches the science and mathematics subjects in Bahasa Melayu are matched with a tutor who teaches in Bahasa Melayu and uses the syllabus terms the paper uses, such as pembezaan and pengamiran in Matematik Tambahan. DLP students are taught in English in the same way.
My child is already in Form 5 and behind. Is it too late?
Rarely, but the plan changes. With months left instead of years, the advisor looks at the latest results to find the chapters that cost the most marks and the ones closest to secure, and classes go there first. Nobody can promise a grade and we will not. What a plan can do is stop the remaining time going into chapters that were never going to move the result.
Can my child take one subject 1-to-1 and the others in a group?
Yes, and it is often the sensible arrangement: private classes for the subject in real trouble, small groups for subjects that only need steady practice. The advisor suggests a mix once they have seen the results, and it can change after a term if the weak subject recovers.
How will I know whether the tuition is working?
Parents can see the class schedule, attendance and monthly progress notes in the Afterkelas Tutoring System. The notes say what was covered and what is still weak, so they can be read against the next school test, the result that matters most.
